Education and Training Requirements
Becoming a pharmacist involves several key steps. Aspiring pharmacists must earn a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an accredited pharmacy school, which typically takes four years. Some pharmacy institutions offer accelerated programs that require the same amount of professional coursework to be completed within 3 years. This education includes coursework in pharmacology, medicinal chemistry, and clinical practice, as well as hands-on internships.
